TRENKAMP, HERMAN J.

TRENKAMP, HERMAN J. (27 Feb. 1865-27 May 1943), business leader, helped found the CATHOLIC CHARITIES CORPORATION of Cleveland (1918) with Roman Catholic Bishop CHARLES LEBLOND and served as its vice-president and on its executive committee. He became honorary trustee for life in 1936. Trenkamp was born in Cleveland to Elizabeth Sutkamp and Henry Trenkamp, Sr., founder of the Trenkamp Stove Company (est. as the Schneider and Trenkamp Co.). He followed his father's business path, organizing the American Stove Co. and running Trenkamp Stove with his brothers. Herman Trenkamp also served as director and secretary of another family company, the Ohio Foundry Co. (est. 1842).

Trenkamp married Catherine G. Miller; the couple lived in CLEVELAND HEIGHTS with children Henry J., Robert, Olga, and Gertrude (Mrs. George) Byrider. He is buried in LAKE VIEW CEMETERY.
