SILHOUETTE was the newsletter of the CLEVELAND SOCIETY OF ARTISTS. It made its debut in March 1925 under the editorship of Robb Beebe. Printed on a single 8.5" x 11" sheet folded once to produce 4 pages, it described itself as "the monthly meeting announcement amplified." Silhouette generally appeared monthly from October through June, and editorial offices tended to follow the peregrinations of its editors until the society acquired permanent quarters on E. 88th St. At times it offered editorial comment on wider artistic concerns, such as CITY PLANNING and the selection process of the MAY SHOW. During the late 1920s and the 1930s, Silhouette often expanded to an 8-page format. In 1946 it contracted to 2 pages printed on a single sheet of heavy stock, and in 1948 it assumed the format of a mailing cover. Evidence indicates that it expired ca. Dec. 1951.
